The focus of this paper is on efficient tape-resident jobs scheduling, which is the key technique for improving performance of tape storage systems. We present several scheduling algorithms for tape-resident jobs, discuss the effectiveness of scheduling policies under cache-limited and cache-unlimited condition, and show the results of simulation experiments.
